Ranked 6thImpactIt’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride for Impact on Sunday in 2019. They started off the year on high, winning the NXL Vegas Open, getting revenge on Houston Heat who stole the series title from them last year.nBut after that a 6th place in Texas and now a 9th place in Philly, where they were knocked out by Damage in the Wild Card round, dropped their overall ranking down to 6th. It’s been years since Edmonton Impact has been ranked out of the Top 5 but though they aren’t as consistent as they’ve been in the past, they are still deadly, as evidenced by their win in Vegas and their most recent victory over in Europe.nOne look at the lineup Impact fields and it’s easy to see why they’re still winning events and why they are still a going to be a favorite at every tournament until something drastic changes. They’ve stayed at or near the top of pro paintball for the past 5 years with of their stellar Canadian core and the all-stars brought in because they were dominators on their previous teams.nJustin Rabackoff took home the Top Gun award in Vegas and is still one of the best and most consistent players in the world. He can do everything from any position.nAlex Goldman is the definition of what coaches and owners want in snake attacker: aggressive, a monster gunfighter, always looking to take ground and make his opponents pay the toll. After all these seasons he still plays like he has something to prove.nSo does Justin Cornell a long tenured veteran who is still a massive threat on the Dside. Also, on the Dside it was Greg Siewers who got the start in Vegas and his elite athleticism and smart gunfights make him hard to kill. And speaking of hard to kill, Brandon Cornell is back from a freak illness that had him laid up for months, but his recent performance in Europe during their win proves he’s in fine form for Chicago.nNick Leival versatility has made him a huge asset for Impact as his timing gets him into crucial spots to break open points or take over the attack when he loses teammates.nZach Yachimec is a former MVP award winner and is one of the best second attacker on the snake side in the league. His consistency and high paintball IQ have proved lethal in championship games.nHis brother Zane Yachimec has been playing up the center and is also a consistent gunfighter who can be counted on to do his job and finish points.nTim Brusselback and Alex Rosati are two highly talented player looking to earn more playing time. They’ll get chances to impress, but they have big shoes to fill and Impact is going to be putting out the players getting kills and staying alive as they have some ground to make up on the top teams at the Chicago Open if they want to make a late season run at another NXL Series Title.
