After getting relegated down to the semi pro division at the end of the 2017 season, they were saved in the pro expansion, but then took dead last at the first two events of 2018. But since then Seattle Thunder been steadily improving their roster andCorey Field has stacked his team with younger players looking to carve a place for themselves permanently in NXL pro league.nThey’ve barely missed the Sunday cut the past two events after making it in Vegas, but they are still ranked 9th overall. Thunder has threats in every position now, all across the field. The veterans Mapp Chhim and Corey Field are the team’s leaders and they will back in Chicago. The team has missed not just their leadership but their ability to close points and shoot bodies on the break. Though Adam Gomez was doing a good job of shooting bodies, filtering up the field, and closing points at the last event.nAfter helping Aftermath get their pro spot last year, Brandon Unger made the move over to Thunder and immediately became their main weapon on the snake side. He’s a rising talent who has bright future in front of him.nYou could say the same for Harrison Fry has emerged as the go to attacker on the d-side. He’s a high energy player, who always looking to take ground get into the most crucial positions.nGreg Hrostek has been getting more reps and making the most of them, typically in the middle, but his skills could see him in other positions.GJ Sakaguchi has done some damage in limited looks this year, mostly on the snake side and he is another player whose skills could earn more playing time soon.nJames Arnautov will be not be at the Chicago event so it will be up to Sakaguchi and Paddy Gleason to take over the attacking duties in the snake or on the Dside when the starters need a rest or fill in as the second attacker. Regardless, Thunder will field their most complete lineup of the year at the NXL Chicago Open.
